When designing a blog or a website, the logo is a very important part, because it will soon become the blog/site online identity. I have compiled a list of 10 stunning free fonts to help you to create the perfect logo.
@Frank: I think it is very hard to say that a logo is great, or sucks. Like all kind of art, a logo is subject to personnal tastes. I really love Cats Who Code logo (because I love cats, and love that grey color) but some people will probably disllike it. It depends on everyone’s tastes
This is cool. Everytime I try to make a logo, in ends up a DISASTER. It just looks cheap and uninspired. I am going to use these tips for myself. thanks
I find that when using simple fonts but altering weight and tone of colour between words can make a very professional looking logo with very little effort.
The fonts are great but I would recommend to check out Smashing Magazine site. They have free fonts reviews each month and usually all mentioned fonts are great.
Thanks for sharing. This is indeed really good free font list, and most important, it is free. I like the Graublau’s most, but it surely depends from project to project which one you will choose.
ahh that “Grablau” looks so good! It’s great for people who don’t have PS. I think it’s just impact with a stroke, emboss and a drop shadow. still looks good, and thanks for sharing
Generally people who say “the article sucks – click this link and you’ll see a better one” are scammers who just want to boost some traffic to their own site from a more popular one to try to sell them stuff, click some ads or catch a virus.
You’re not a scammer are you? Because that would suck.
This is really a nice article, this blog contains great information.Free fonts have met their match. We know how hard it is to find quality freeware that is licensed for commercial work. Thanks!!
Nevis looks like the Obamafont (Gotham Bold) which is pretty popular these days. Most of these fonts are pretty okay, but just okay. Wish Pakenham was on the list.
Don’t want to burst anyone’s bubble, but according to the EULA, Graublau isn’t free for printing, That sucks, cause you would end up adding your logo on some documents of flyers sooner or later, right?
Hi, Let me start by congratulating for an excellent post. Fonts have always been an issue when it comes to designing websites or logos, but if professionals like you keep helping, may be budding designs, like me, can be guided in the great direction. Thanks for sharing this, Regards, Sam Relan

You can use any font for a great logo.
But these fonts are not logo-worthy at all, imho.
If you check my blog and logo, you’ll see a better example…
Tschai,
Seriously dude, your logo sucks!

@Frank,
Fair enough.
But my point is that It’s a good example of a logo-ready font.
(And a temporary logo and site design, but that’s another story).
@Jbj,
Totally agree with you: tastes do differ…

Nice post but i agree with TsChai
What do you use to edit the logo? Photoshop?
@Rundll32: Yes, but you can use The Gimp as well
jbj dint notice till now that you changed the logo of the site.
Seems the same cat from wprecipes xD fits in perfect tho..
and going back to the post the only fonts worthy of being in a logo are Nevis and Myriad Pro, just need to play with them a little.
@Omar: yes, it is the same cat than in WpRecipes
Nice fonts, I’ll keep some of them for future use!
i love green pillow…i use it to some of my graphics.
nice fonts you have here!
The fonts are great but I would recommend to check out Smashing Magazine site. They have free fonts reviews each month and usually all mentioned fonts are great.
@Webkinz: You’re right about Smashing Magazine, they provide awesome fonts ressources!
Thanks for sharing. This is indeed really good free font list, and most important, it is free. I like the Graublau’s most, but it surely depends from project to project which one you will choose.
Urban Sketch is amazing! Thanks for posting
I just made a nice font for my own personal logo making. I’m picky as heck so finding fonts that suit me is a chore.
@Cristian-I’m with you…I dig Urban Sketch.
Thanks for the list. I’m always looking for free fonts. And, yep, Smashing Magazine is a good resource, too.
Okay, I agree all around, don’t I?!
Thanks. Cant beat free fonts, nor ignore the importance of hand crafted typography.
Hi ,
Thank you so much. Can you suggest a free and perfect logo creator.
Green pillow = awesomeness.
Nice! They’re going directly to my delicious
.
Very nice! Thanks!
Thank you for these, I especially liked the Graublau font.
ahh that “Grablau” looks so good!
It’s great for people who don’t have PS. I think it’s just impact with a stroke, emboss and a drop shadow.
still looks good, and thanks for sharing
The first three fonts look best for me.
I didn’t know Myriad Pro was free… Are you shure, guys?
The Urban Sketch one is deffinately a keeper. The other ones, not so interesting
Top 10? Not really… Actually, that’s impossible. You could maybe get away with a Top 1001 list…
The second one’s my favorite. Don’t quite know why though.
Thank you so much! Very usefull post…
This comes in handy as I am learning how to create logos recently. Thanks for the share.
very nice fonts …. i should try
top 10 fonts???

@35 – Stephen
Fair enough and I hate them as much you do.
That’s why I did not leave a explicit link in my comment. And there’s even no Adsense on my blog, so I’m not even profiting from potential traffic.
The only reason I gave my logo as a example is, that I’ve used a font for a logo like this article suggests.
Myriad Pro is my fav. Your blog loads really slow in Google Chrome.
I like Graublau, it really grabs your attention and is easy on the eyes.
I agree Virtumonde
Audimat Mono is pretty slick too!
Nice list!!! Myriad pro is my fav. too and Trebuchet MS for web.
This is really a nice article, this blog contains great information.Free fonts have met their match. We know how hard it is to find quality freeware that is licensed for commercial work. Thanks!!
Great! I’m working on a new logo and these will work well.
Beyond the fonts that you listed, what I’d like to point out is that having a logo is as important for a blog as it is for any kind of entity.
as I am the designer of “Urban Sketch”.
All I want to say is thank you….
Nils
Nevis looks like the Obamafont (Gotham Bold) which is pretty popular these days. Most of these fonts are pretty okay, but just okay. Wish Pakenham was on the list.
itz very creative staff i’ve seen here, good work
great list. i didn’t know most of them before.

That sucks, cause you would end up adding your logo on some documents of flyers sooner or later, right?
@Shri: I didn’t kniow that. Yeah, that definitely sucks!
I really like NEVIS there.
It is great to have an elegant typeface that fits for every occasion
And this is a very nice list JBJ, thanks for sharing!

These free fonts are common and most of site will have logo with these fonts so logo will not look unique. It is better to pay some bucks for fonts.
Brilliant Post! Thanks so much, I’ll be coming back for this continually I know…
