Tim from Mothertheme is just made a very cool announcement: He’s now selling his successful “Mothertheme” Premium WordPress theme with full reseller rights. I know a lot of people who want to start their own WordPress theme business, so this is the occasion you don’t want to miss!

Until Tuesday, October 7, you can have an extra 50% discount on any Mothertheme licences! Simply use the word "car" in the discount box in the shopping cart.

What is Mothertheme

I know, there's a lot of quality premium WordPress themes around. So what makes Mothertheme different? Simply, Mothertheme is skinnable. In simpler words, you can change the appearence of the theme as many times as you want without changing theme, because mother theme can handle skins to modify it's own appearence.

But that's not all: As a quality premium WordPress theme, Mothertheme also have its own options panel, to help you to set up your blog without even having to edit a single file.

It may sound incredible, but Tim Norton created a "reseller" licence for his Mothertheme Premium WordPress Theme: You buy it, and then, you can resell the theme and keep 100% of the profits. Isn't that great?

The reseller licence costs $297, and it allows you to
resell Mothertheme at the minimum price of $67. That mean, you only have to resell 5 copies to get your money back and start making money. I have heard many people saying they want to start a premium WordPress theme business but don't know how to write a single line of code...So this might be the occasion you don't want to miss.

And wait, there's more: Tim is also selling a licence which not only allow you to
resell Mothertheme, but also resell reseller rights on it. The price may sound a bit expensive ($797), but think about the business you could create by having the reseller rights on a premium WordPress theme!

Some words before the end...

Since I launched Cats Who Code back in june this year, Tim always seemed to me to be a nice and generous person. So I wasn't surprised when he told me that 5% of all Mothertheme sells will be given to a charity in Denver in order to help single moms with food, jobs, money, etc.

Mothertheme licences and prices

Mothertheme have 3 different licences:

Personal/Developer License: $67
Gives you the right to use MotherTheme on any personal or professional project, without limit. You may not resell MotherTheme as a download.
Reseller License: $297
Gives you the right to sell MotherTheme either as-is or modified and retain all the profits! You may sell a personal license for any price you like, however if you sell a developer license it must be sold for at least $67.
Master Resale License: $797
You may not only sell MotherTheme personal and developer licenses but you may also sell the resale rights to MotherTheme. You may sell the personal license for any price. The developer license for any price. And you must sell the resale license for at least $197.

Thanks for the mention Jean, a couple things I wanted to add: First I don’t know any other themes with reseller licenses so this is probably a unique opportunity to get into the premium theme market without having to make your own theme.

Also, skins were in the original stages of MotherTheme development but since WordPress now supports parent/child themes (which I’ll be facilitating with MotherTheme also) I no longer have skins inside MotherTheme since I don’t want to develop something parallel with WordPress.

Also through Monday 10/6, you can get a 50% discount if you simply use the word “car” in the discount box in the shopping cart. Car because I’m currently having auto work done and I need to help pay for it So my loss is your gain …

Interesting opportunity, for the time being I have been on the opposite end of the spectrum buying a few sponsor links in the footer of giveaway wp themes to build up some backlinks.

Having reseller rights on a WordPress theme is a great thing, especially if you can’t/don’t want to create themes yourself. This business has been very great last year, so there’s no reason it will not continue that way!

This is a great way to build up one’s material as he has others selling his material, and possibly even selling his material to sellers. If that isn’t a build-up method, the term “build-up method” is sure hard to come by.

This is exactly what i was looking for because i need fast and easy theme customization that will follow design of rest of my site. But too bad it is bit expensive, i will have to spare little to be able to buy it soon.

Wow, this is an interesting business model. I’ve talked with Tim quite a few times and always liked the Mother Theme design, so it will be interesting to see how this works.

I think the Mother Theme has the right kind of setup to potentially thrive under this business model.
