Posted by jbj on Aug 5, 2008 in Blogging, wordpress • 37 commentsIf you’re a Wordpress fanatic, you probably already heard about Kyle Eslick and his blog Hack Wordpress. Last week, Kyle released his first WordPress eBook, Success With Wordpress. Here’s the ebook review.

Success With Wordpress covers almost anything about Wordpress with a "straight to the essential" style that I enjoyed. It starts with the very basics as such as installing or upgrading Wordpress to very advanced concepts like using Wordpress as a CMS or as an online shop. On each chapter, you'll find a lot of very usefull tips that any Wordpress user, even the very experimented ones, will have benefit.
The ebook contains usefull ready to use codes exemples: For exemple, a robots.txt file, an author page template, and a lot of code snippets that you just have to paste to your theme.
Success with Wordpress also covers Wordpress SEO and blog monetization: Kyle, who earn 2000$ + with his blogs every month, provide great tips and techniques to increase your Adsense earnings, manage your affiliate links and a lot more.
Since I read that tips and applied it on my blogs, my adsense earning increased up to 30%!

Want to know more?
If you're interested about the Success with Wordpress ebook, you'll find more info here. If you want to know more about Kyle Eslick, we recently interviewed him here at CatsWhoCode. And at last but not least, you should definitely check out his blog Hack Wordpress for daily tips, hacks, news and tutorials.

Kyle knows his stuff with WordPress, I’m sure it’s a great ebook!
Wordpress seems to be gaining in opularity especially in the afiliate marketing business. I have always favored Blogger and had decent results with blogger. My concern about wordpress is recent reports by wordpress users about blog hijack. What do you think?
I just used blogger in order to test it, and wasn’t really satisfied. In my opinion, a WP blog is a must! It is a sure thing that WP become more and more popular from day to day.
I think it all boils down to what one started with. Each blogging platform has a lot to recommend it. I am not knocking wordpress in anyway. I mean the hordes of people recommending wordpress left right and center speaks volumes.
I think though that blogger has a lot to offer as well. The ease of use is so well suited for blogging beginners. Also the blogging format is very SEO friendly. Your posts are all automatically given URLs that include the title of your post. I know this can be achieved with wordpress by doing a little tweaking but I personally like the ‘minimum of fuss’ that blogger has.
Why pay for freely available information?
In my opinion, it is sometime better to pay for something really good instead of getting free but false or imcomplete informations.
Sure, some of the technics of this book can be found in a quality and free version, but I think that Kyle wrote something really complete and interesting, for both the Wordpress newbie to the advanced user.
All about money? you can get all for free…
Great information, I really will check this out and review it for my readers. Thanks for telling us about it.
Whats the most important with SEO?The title? I really need work on SEO lol.
The table of content looks very promising. Especially the part on using WP as a CMS. I was going to use drupal or joomla for those purposes, but I am much more familiar with WP, so it would be nice to be able to stay with the same software.
@Olivier: I run Drupal on another site, and tried Joomla, they’re both good, but WP is really simple, powerful and have a huge community behing it.
If you’re looking for a very good Wordpress start, you should definitely purchase Kyle ebook!
This was the first book I read before installing Wordpress. I agree, WP is better than Blogspot and Drupal. My wordpress blogs get good rankings in search engines and it is very easy to work with WP.
Thanks for the post. This is the one book you should read before using Wordpress. I have some sites running in wordpress. This ebook is a must for worpress bloggers.
To add to those tips:-
- always make sure you use wp-cache to save your server’s resources (database/CPU). NOT using wp-cache means your website is in danger of overloading the server if you get traffic spikes from the likes of digg.com or any other popular social bookmarking site.
For me, I just don’t really see what the big deal is with Wordpress. I mean, the templates do look nice and there are some nice features. But I just don’t see WP as a big thing.
Hi, this book is great for beginners. All those who has any experience with Wordpress has already known those tips and tricks from this e-book. But anyway thank you for sharing.
There is a lot of “free” information out there, and at the same time there is definite value to having it all in one concise place. And “save the planet” and all, I feel there is something worthy of paying for a product that can be printed out, and read/studied away from the monitor. There is definite value in that.
I love wordpress, actually I use self hosted blogs only and they are easy, especially since they come with so many plug ins that make my life so much easier
Like Ivan above, I also use WordPress because it’s easy to set it and forget it! Well, from a maintenance perspective. Only the occassional “must install now” security update really gets me moving, but otherwise, I just upgrade on major version numbers. I don’t use a lot of plugins, and the new update feature inside of the WP admin section makes even that painless and easy!
Success with Wordpress is a very good and informative ebook. However, as for me, it is a little bit outdated. But overall it worth reading if you are a newbie.
seems to be for beginner. lol
Hello there!
This looks like a very interesting e-book, I am planning to change my website to a WordPress based website. I have been reading around a lot on the WordPress and will think about this e-book.
Thank you for the info
I’ve used wordpress and coming from somebody with no tech experience, it’s very simple to use.
Sounds like a great read. I’m already a WordPress fan but I’m sure I would find lots of useful tips in this e-book.
Looks like a great book. Does it cover how to transfer a blog to another server? I’m thinking about selling a WP blog that I built, but don’t know how to transfer it.
Thanks.
@Amazon Kendal: I think it does, but I’m not really sure about it. I should have a look and tell you then
Most of the eBooks that I have purchased have either been just a rehash of something old or so for the beginner. It would be hard to convince me to purchase eBooks, when 85% of the time, you can find that information for free on the Internet.
this book is great for beginners
I am a complete wordpress noob, so this looks interesting to me.
Thanks!
This is a great book. Does it cover the SEO isue? And what is the best CMS from google point of view?
wordpress is a very valuable tool in blogging. It has advantages and disadvantages, the same with blogger. but’s the money all about? You can get all the valuable information for free in the internet. But maybe Kyle has something to offer like secrets or whatever. Well, its up to you if your going to buy it or not.
@Joomla template: Yes, Success with WordPress features a nice chapter about WordPress SEO.
@weng: Sure you can get valuable info all over the internet, but what about having a book covering all aspects of WordPress, written by a WordPress expert? You should give it a try.
Ebboks cant be trusted imo…. if there was a real way of succeeding people would not be publicly sharing it in a ebook.
This is definitely worth the read. It has made me very successful with wordpress, and I would reccomend it for other people.
Thank you Kyle for introducing “Sucess with Wordpress” for us. Seams to be very absorbing for people who blog with wordpress. I wanted to give it a try but your first trackback didn´t worked. Maybe I am wrong but you should check it.
